My Story
I fell in love with running before I even knew cross-country was an option at my high school. Growing up, I watched my mom train for half-marathons and marathons, often pushing my little brother and I in a double stroller on her runs. Inspired by her dedication, I eventually found my way into the world of running during my sophomore year of high school—and that’s when my passion ignited.
Running wasn’t just about the miles; it was about the team, the support, and the shared determination, no matter the pace or ability. During high school, I completed two half-marathons and thought, How can anyone do TWO of these back-to-back? Then, in my freshman year of college, I decided to challenge myself even further—running 19 miles on my 19th birthday. It was painful, exhausting, and one of the hardest things I had done at the time, but I finished…and celebrated with multiple cheeseburgers afterward.
After that, I stepped away from running completely, turning to weightlifting instead. Without a clear direction, my fitness progress stalled, and my lifestyle didn’t support my goals. Running two consecutive miles felt impossible, and I often had to stop multiple times. That all changed in the fall of 2023 when my mom ran the Ghost Train 30-Hour Ultramarathon. She couldn’t stop raving about it, and suddenly, I felt that old spark reignite in me.
In January 2024, I signed up for the 2024 Ghost Train Ultramarathon and spent the next nine months training. It wasn’t without its struggles—mainly due to my own choices and lack of discipline—but in the end, I showed up, gave it my all, and completed my first 45-mile ultramarathon. That experience only fueled my desire for more. Going into 2025, I have a soft goal of completing at least two ultras and pushing myself even further.
Through this journey, I also came to a realization: I want to coach others like me—everyday people with full-time jobs who are curious about ultrarunning but don’t know where to start. If my story or blog posts resonate with you, or if you’re looking to connect with someone in the running community, my door is always open. I’d love to hear from you and support you on your running journey!
